What is the point? You have to remove that one bar in order to open the hood, and the body flexes separately from the box, so the whole cage would get slightly twisted over every bump. Not to mention it looks too weak to provide any protection or anything.

Maybe it’s a rack for mounting... I dunno. Stuff.

Rally lights?

JB Hunt is a freight company, maybe it’s a training vehicle?

Agreed. It's a training truck to show new drivers where the sides of the box are as they're moving forward.

I could see this being useful in an environment where very long objects are often falling from the sky perpendicular to the road.

depending on what state these were taken in......... it is POSSIBLE, that these could be used to hang a tarp, over the windscreen when the truck is parked. so that if it were snowing, or icing up, in the morning the truck is ready to go with only the removal of the tarp that was hanging over the windscreen.

JB Hunt intermodal containers go on domestic rail lines and tractor trailer chassis. Those bars prevent intrusion into the cab if they run into a chassis(truck trailer that containers are loaded onto) while roaming on the rail yard, and provide slight protection if a container is dropped on the truck
